Park and Ride is now formally known as Park, Pay, and Ride.
Apr 18th, 2009 | By The Mayor | Category: Public TransitSo the City has already started charging $3/day to park at some Park and Ride lots and they expect to have the payment stations setup for all Park and Ride lots by the end of May 2009. Have you ever wondered what the City will do with the revenue generated from these Park, Pay, and Ride lots? Well, according to the city’s website, it is as follows:
“All revenue from this new parking charge will be used to increase the current level of cleaning, maintenance and security in these lots and on the entire transit system.”
Hmm… I’m not sure if I’m buying this one, but only time will tell. But the bottom line is that the $3/day will run you an extra $60 per month on top of a $83 monthly pass. So $148/month to park and use the C-Train – that’s great incentive, Bronco and others. Is Calgary Transit trying to force customers to take feeder buses to the C-Train stations instead of driving there? I’m not sure. But all in all, it’s more money out of my pocket.
